Lesson07: Random Association

Lecture Summary:

From the lecture in Week 10 by Mr. Radzi Bedu, I have learned a new topic about Random Association. Random Association is a random word technique, the most basic and creative way to generate new ideas.

In this technique, random word are used to solve a problem. By forcing ourself to create a solution from a random word, we will be able to generate more ideas from different directions.

In conclusion, this technique is a good way to force us generate ideas.


Personal Reflection:

In my opinion, once again, Mr. Radzi Bedu had demonstrated brilliantly in introducing a new topic which is about Random Association. By giving an example of his journey from his home to FCM, we get the principle of this method easily.

The exercises for this topic are also suitable and I really learned a lot and understood on how the random word technique used.

In conclusion, this technique is good to be used by whoever that can't find idea in the moment by forcing themselves to find idea from a random word.


Exercise:

We are required to find solution for these two problems by using random words that have been given.

Problem01: How to make a person stop smoking in six months time?
Random word: Traffic light.



Keywords for Traffic light:

1.Metal: Put metal rings to make it heavy and tough to smoke.



2. Dirty: Put "Yucky" effect to make it look dirty.

3. Sign: Put "Death" sign to make it scary.

Problem02: To create "scary image" or "object" of sign that will instill fear among people through out the age.

Random words: Cat

Keywords for cat:

1. Nine Lives (means undead)

2. Sharp teeth and claws

3. Kill rat (means a killer)

By combining all keywords, I create a scary image that shows a human that can't die and live to kill and eat other human using his teeth and claws.
