Lesson06: Analogy

Lecture Summary:

From the lecture in week 09 by Mr. Radzi Bedu, I have learned a new topic about Analogy. Analogy is a way to explain something complex by using something familiar. Analogy can be divided into two types which are metaphor and similes.

Both metaphor and similes are used to link two different things into some similarity. The difference is, similes using as/like while metaphor not. For example;
In similes: Life is like cooking.
In metaphor: Life is a box of chocolate.

In conclusion, analogy is a good way to make strange familiar.

Personal Reflection:

In my own opinion, I think analogy is a very good topic to be learned. By choosing random words, we will be able to produce new ideas. Mr. Radzi had done a very good job introducing the topic. By doing all the exercises, I learned a lot about Analogy.

In conclusion, Analogy is a good way to use to be creative.

Exercise01:

We are required to create a passage/writing that describe the concept of Love, Live and Woman based on the images from lecture note.

01. Concept of Love.

Love is like a relationship between two strangers.

Love is unconditional, where everyone can fall in love with anyone despite of their identity.

Love is about friendship, where all couples should start their relationship by getting knows with each other.

Love is about patience, where every couples should be tolerate with each other weaknesses.

Love is about unconditional, friendship and patience.

02. Concept of Woman.

Woman is like a goldfish wearing a huge fake fin and living in a small aquarium.

Women like to be beautiful, where they love to wear nice clothes, shoes and make-up.

Women like to buy things, where they love to buy new clothes, shoes and accesories.

Women like to be someone that they are not, where they love to imitate celebrities.

Women like looking pretty, shopping and pretending.

03. Concept of Life.

Life is like a cup of coffee.

Sometimes, life is bitter when we in sadness.

Sometimes, life is sweet when we in happiness.

Sometimes, life is full when we are with family and friends.

Sometimes, life is empty when we are alone.

Life is bitter, sweet, full and empty.

Exercise02:

We are required to do several tasks to learn about Analogy.

Step01:

Mr. Radzi prepared a list of 20 elements that are divided into two groups.

Group A

1. Flower

2.Lightning

3. Ice

4. Light

5. Fire

6. Duck

7. Dog

8. Oil

9. Leave

0. Fly

Group B

1. Water

2. Rock

3. Wind

4. Mountain

5. Root

6. Spider

7. Tree

8. Wood

9. Rain

0. Head

Step02:

We are required to choose three numbers from 00 to 99. I chose 01, 16 and 77.

Step03:

From the chosen numbers, we get three paired words based on the list in Step01.

01 = Fly Water

16 = Flower Spider

77 = Dog Tree

Step04:

We are required to make sentence for each paired words and then visualize them.

Fly, Water: The fly fell into the water.

Flower, Spider: The flower got eaten by a spider.

Dog, Tree: The dog like to pee next to the big tree.

Step05:

We are required to combine each of the paired word into one word and visualize them.

Flywater:

Flowerspider:

Dogtree:

Exercise03:

We are required to produce three drawings of a new creation of animal that been combined from two animals and imposible to survive in this world.

Animal01: Eleish

(Head = Elephant) + (Body = Fish) = Eleish

Why can't survive?

01. It can't live in the water because of breathing issues.

02. It can't live on the ground because of breathing issues.

Animal02: D-Rex

(Head = Duck) + (Body = T-Rex) = D-Rex

Why can't survive?

01. It can't hunt with its small head and no teeth.

02. It has huge stomach to be filled and will die because had not enough food.

Animal03: Fibbit

(Head = Fish) + (Body = Rabbit) = Fibbit

Why can't survive?

01. It can't live in the water without swimming ability.

02. It can't live on the ground because it can survive without water.
